There are countless small crags scatted around the entire circumference of Barden Moor. Some of these - Crookrise, Rylstone, Eastby etc are well-known, whilst others are more obscure. Rolling Gate is perhaps the best of the lesser-known crags - worth a visit for the superb Jack's Dimension.

Embsay Crag

The outcrops on the summit of Embsay Crag, overlooking Embsay reservoir and the village, have limited climbing potential. Some routes and at least one boulder problem been claimed here.

Halton Height

Halton Height is a minor summit on the south side of Barden Moor, near Eastby. Scattered across the hillside below the summit is a series of natural and quarried buttresses The climbing is a bit limited, especially for boulderers, but it might be worth a quick visit. An obvious undercut boulder of pebbly rock near the road at the right-hand end of the hillside has a couple of lines. Further left, above the quarries, a few more boulders of varying sizes are worth exploring; there's a nice big, easy, slabby arete about half-way along. The quarries aren't quite as off-putting as most grit quarries; there might be a few problems here, but generally they're too high.

Air Scar Crags

A small collection of boulders, some quite high, at the northeast edge of the moor, overlooking Burnsall. Some short routes and a few minor boulder problems.

Numberstones End

A north-facing edge on the north edge of the moor. There are lots of short, easy, broken boulder problems here, but nothing particularly memorable.

Rolling Gate

A fine west-facing edge to the north of the Cracoe war memorial. There a lots of short routes, and a small boulder circuit on good quality rock. The highlight is the tremendous "Jack's Dimension", a highball 7c wall, which must justify the effort of the long walk-in on its own.

The Crags

"The Crags", as they're called on the OS maps, lie below the edge of the moor to the south of Rolling Gate. There are two separate little edges, both of which look quite promising from a distance, but both are disappointing on closer examination. There is plenty of easy, broken rock, but it's probably not worth the effort of climbing.
