Hugencroft is the small outcrop near the Bridestones, on the opposite side of the road, not far from the Sportsmans Inn. Climbing was banned here for many years, until the Countryside and Rights Of Way act came into force in September 2004. Access is still sensitive as it is very close to the owners house - please obey all signs and don't climb on the area that is still banned.
The main crag is a series of large buttresses. There are some very impressive lines here, but unfortunately they're too high for bouldering. In between these pinnacles are some smaller boulders, but the bouldering potential is limited - there are perhaps no more than a dozen decent problems. Access isn't allowed to the best looking boulders beneath the crag and at the west end. Numerous new barbed wire fences detract from the atmosphere somewhat.
