Palleys Crags are a collection of boulders on the moorland just off the Greenhow to Thruscross road in North Yorkshire. Its unpopularity with boulderers is well deserved, with only a handful of problems and gritty rock. However it's a very pleasant place, and one of the problems is actually very good.

Palleys Crag Boulder

The biggest and most prominent boulder has the best climbing.

The offwidth crack in the centre of the face is slightly less unpleasant than it looks.

The right arete of the crack is excellent - easily the best problem here, although slightly artificial (avoid the left wall of the arete).

The centre of the wall from an undercut. A rubbishy problem, with no slapping involved whatsoever.

The right arete, climbed on the left, might be much better if it were clean.

The short flake right of the arete.
