The Chevin is the area of woodland above Otley in West Yorkshire, west of Caley. There is a substantial grit edge here, partly quarried, with some good routes, and some well-hidden boulders in the woods - West Chevin. It's a fairly minor bouldering venue, but there are a few good problems, particularly in the lower grades, with one very impressive hard problem. Unfortunately it is quite green, being north facing and surrounded by trees.

The problems on the broken main edge are described from left to right. Descriptions courtesy of Paul Clarke.

Expand The Testing Block

The left-most boulder on the edge is a vertical wall with a few small crimps.

From the good crimp go diagonally leftwards on small crimps to the big jug.

Expand Homeland

This area features two green walls split by a wide crack.

Expand Raynman Area

This is first area reached from the road. There are some fine lower grade problems here and a very impressive project on an overhanging wall. The first problems are on the nice clean wall in front of the overhanging wall.
